I do believe that, Trump said in a Rose Garden news conference. And its a very unusual attack, as you know. But I do believe Cuba is responsible. The president did not elaborate. But in a cable sent Monday to all overseas U.S. diplomatic posts, the State Department said it has not assigned blame to the Government of Cuba. We are still investigating these attacks and do not know who or what is behind them. We continue to exchange information with Cuban investigators, said the diplomatic cable. Marked sensitive, the cable laid out the rationale for the steps the U.S. has taken in response to the attacks, including pulling more than half its diplomats from Cuba and kicking out 15 Cuban diplomats in the United States. There was no reaction from the Cuban Embassy in Washington to Trumps remark. Castros government has repeatedly denied both involvement in and knowledge of the attacks. Trump offered no new details about what type of weapon might have caused damage ranging from permanent hearing loss to mild traumatic brain injury, or concussion. The State Department has said that despite the lengthy investigation and FBI visits to the island, the U.S. still cant identify either a culprit or a device. Trumps ambiguous allegation against the Cubans was likely to increase tensions even further between the two former enemies. The U.S. and Cuba reopened diplomatic relations in 2015 after a halfcentury of estrangement, but the attacks on Americans and steps taken by Washington in response have started to unravel those budding ties. The U.S. has not explicitly accused any actor of perpetrating the attacks, which in some cases involved mysterious, blaring sounds that led to investigators to consider whether a sonic weapon was involved. Still, the U.S. has pointed to Cubas tight control over security in Havana and its close surveillance of Americans working there are reasons to believe that Cuba might know more about whats transpir... Officials added Friday that the number of victims is currently subject to revision, because the ambiguous nature of the attacks and the symptoms they cause, which make it difficult to diagnose and treat. Report: US expels Cuban diplomats after American personnel in Cuba report 'physical symptoms'. The State Department has expelled two Cuban diplomats from the United States over safety concerns of American officials who reported experiencing unexplained "physical symptoms" while working in Cuba, according to reports. State Department officials said the Cuban officials within the Embassy in Washington were asked to leave the country on May 23, after U.S. personnel stationed on the island “reported incidents which have caused a variety of physical symptoms,” according to a The Washington Post report published Wednesday. The officials would not elaborate on what physical symptoms the officials exhibited nor specify when the Cubans departed the U.S., the newspaper reported. The first unexplained incident reportedly occurred late in 2016, one official told the Post. The continuous symptoms reportedly prompted the officials to leave, which first led the State Department to begin looking into the matter. Both State Department officials told the newspaper that the facts surrounding the incidents are not yet complete. CBS Radio News, which first reported the incidents, said federal investigators are looking into the claims. Cuban officials have pledged to investigate the incidents as well and take appropriate action, the officials told the Post. It is not unprecedented or uncommon for American officials in Cuba to be harassed, the Post reported, pointing to the start of the practice emerging under island's communist government in the 1970s. ADVERTISEMENT The State Department also reportedly reminded Cuba of its agreement from the Vienna Convention to protect foreign diplomats. #Report: #US #expels #Cuban #diplomats #after #American #personnel #in #Cuba #report #'physical #symptoms'

Get more Tips here! www.destinationtips.com Did you know up until 1997, it was actually illegal for Cubans to mingle with tourists? It's okay now though, and today even Americans are allowed to explore the country that was barred to them for 55 years. This unique “time warp” island is generally safe and friendly, but there are a few things NOT to do in Cuba. 1. Don’t Bring Bling The average Cuban salary is about $20 per month, so don't flaunt your wealth. Walking around with dazzling jewelry and slick smart phones can make you a target to pickpockets. 2. Don’t Take Pics of Police It’s illegal to take photos of any military, police or airport personnel in Cuba. If you want to avoid unpleasant interrogations from the authorities, don’t get snap-happy in front of these officials. 3. Don’t Diss Fidel It's illegal for Cubans to criticize the government. Of course, they may discuss things covertly amongst themselves, but you don’t qualify. So don’t dare to diss the Castros or Communism in casual conversation. 4. Don’t Blow Your Nose in Public Cubans consider this to be extremely rude. If you have a cold or allergies, it’s best to take care of things in private. 5. Don’t Fall for the Jineteros A Jinetero is a seemingly friendly local that suddenly charges you for assistance you didn’t really ask for. Some of these hustlers besiege you with hard-luck stories to guilt you into paying more money. This also applies to the escorts and prostitutes on the island who make a living off of lonely middle-aged tourists. 6. Don’t Forget to Bring a Few Gifts Local hotel staff and guides appreciate cash tips, but also things like shampoo, school supplies or canned tuna. Some airlines allow passengers to bring an extra bag full of sundries like this for “humanitarian aid” purposes. 7. Don’t Get Short Changed The official local currency is the CUP, however tourists have to use the CUC, but there's a 13% exchange fee when converting US dollars. Best to bring euros, Canadian dollars or Sterling. Also beware of Jineteros offering to exchange with you on the streets. Even shop keepers are notorious for short-changing and switching CUP for CUC! 8. Don’t Take Unlicensed Taxis Cuba’s streets are full of these: and some even operate as taxis. Many are not metered, so you’ll have to negotiate a fare upfront. Watch out for unlicensed taxis, you may be setting yourself up for a scam or robbery. 9. Don’t Forget the Cigars John F. Kennedy famously stocked up on 1,200 cigars before imposing the 1962 embargo. After 50 years, Americans can now legally bring back $100 worth of tobacco and alcohol. 12. Don’t Do Drugs Cubans can receive the death penalty for drug consumption. Tourists however can be sent to maximum security prison. Most important of all, don’t delay coming here. Cuba is a magical country you'll want to see before word gets out.

The United States will remove most diplomatic staff from its embassy in Cuba as part of a major withdrawal of personnel following mysterious ‘sonic’ attacks, it was reported on Thursday. The Trump administration decided to undertake preparations for a large-scale withdrawal after Washington did not come away convinced that the Cuban government was doing everything it could to protect American diplomats in Havana, CBS News reported. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met this week with his Cuban counterpart, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez at the State Department in Washington. The meeting apparently did little to sway the administration from its original plan to call back most of its diplomatic staff after 21 reported incidents of diplomats and their families experiencing symptoms ranging from headaches, nausea, hearing loss, balance issues, and cognitive impairment. The Cuban government apparently asked for the meeting between Tillerson and Rodriguez. A statement released by the Cuban government about the meeting includes a

(18 Sep 2017) US technicians and personnel worked to restore operations at the US Embassy in Havana on Monday, repairing exterior structural damage caused by the fierce storm surge from Hurricane Irma last week. The embassy remains closed to all consular activities as locals and embassy personnel worked to restore the destroyed fencing around the property, reinstall security cameras on the roof and clean debris from the grounds. Thousands of anxious visa applicants are awaiting word on when the embassy might reopen for consular activities, while also closely monitoring the ongoing diplomatic spat between the US and Cuba which could lead to shuttering the embassy. The nearby park, which is normally packed with hundreds of Cuban visa applicants waiting for an interview with consular officials, is empty and the normally bustling streets around the compound are blocked off and empty. The prospect of the US Embassy closing over the ongoing dispute around unexplained incidents harming American diplomats left locals uneasy and concerned they will be cut off from their families in the US. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has indicated the U.S. might cut off diplomatic relations with Cuba over the incidents, in which dozens of staffers suffered physical harm after a potential "sonic attack." Cuba has denied any involvement and President Raul Castro has promised to investigate the incidents.
